!!! I haven't heard much about The Shards but it doesn't take much to sell me on a BEE book. For better or for worse, I am so into writers with frightening levels of audacity... it's fascinating what people are/n't willing to write and where we draw our boundaries for what is "acceptable."

My new/used/unread copy of Glamorama is staring at me from the bookshelf, maybe it's time...

that is without a doubt the weirdest sluttiest most graphic book I have ever read and I will not lie I loved it I dont know what that says about me please dont think of me differently after you read it... 🫢

i agree!!!! i love bret so much, and i love weird, dark, disturbing, upsetting art. I also love how much he fucks with us in the autofiction of it all. I love that he doesn’t care. i love his writing!!!! I definitely understand the critiques of him and his work, but i disagree with the broad sentiment people seem to have that writing violent, misogynistic characters makes you a violent misogynist.
